FGCU professor, Mary Voytekis an accomplished artist who works with Lee County’sHomeless Coalition to spread awareness about Lee County homelessness.Her latest art project was the Home Base Art Cart; it was used to educate FGCU students about homelessness and to collect supplies for the homeless.She visited San Francisco, Los Angeles,and Portland for her sabbatical, cities with the country’s highest homeless population (Forbes).
Professor Voytek said,
“I was so struck by [the homelessnessin these cities] that I needed to do something and raise awareness and create a piece that would createprovocative discussion.”

Laura informed other collegiate students about homelessness in Florida and explained ways students in Florida could start projects like the Kindness Project at their own colleges.
